Just an update on what's been going on. Two moves happening in the months of April and May. Had a change of residence and we are moving our store to a new location in Savannah, Ga. The Jewelers Bench is moving to 9 West DeRenne Ave. the first week of May.
Once everything is in order I have hopes to get into making some work of my own again. I've got a couple of designs/ series in the works. I've done sketches just need to start thinking about and buying materials. Really looking forward to making some new stuff. Now to wait. Till then, my friends.

Steampunk Violin Brooch

New updates on the Steampunk violin brooch that I helped make. This was my first collaboration and I'll have to say I really enjoyed it and hope to do more of this kind of thing in the near future. But for now, here are the production pictures of the brooch...

This is me doing the back of the brooch with chasing and repose techniques.

My coworker, Omar P., doing the designing portion of the brooch.

Omar doing hand engraving on parts of the brooch. Very talented and self taught.

Assembling the brooch.

The finished piece.

...and finally the published images from the South Magazine, of Savannah, Ga. and their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/southmagazine?fref=ts.

I hope you enjoy the piece as much as we enjoyed making it. Any comments or questions are welcome so feel free to ask. ^^

New and Exciting Opportunities!

Goodness! Within twenty-four hours of starting my new blog great things are taking place. First off, I was already working on a collaboration with coworker, Omar; A pearl necklace with fully fabricated slides. Now we have a similar opportunity to make a piece for the cover of a major local magazine. I'll be sure to give you all the details once we get it all together and finalized. But I'll give you a sneak peak of what I've contributed so far. So much excitement!

Today I decided I would start an artist's blog. Lord knows how this will turn out, so I'm just going to give it my best shot. I'll just start out with a little about myself and what I've been up to for the past few years of my life.
After graduating high school in 2004 I attended Georgia Southern University and graduated with a BFA in Jewelry and Metals in December of 2009. Afterwards I attended Savannah Collage of Art and Design to attempt my Masters of Arts in Jewelry. Being unhappy with the curriculum and the quarter system I left before completion of my masters in 2011 and found a job as an jewelers assistant/apprentice. Since taking the position I've learned a number of new things and get to work with some really knowledgeable people (more on that later).
After leaving SCAD I didn't do much in the lines of creating any of my own work and just focused on learning new things. Now that I have established myself at work and gathered tools and a workbench and set up a space at my home, I've started to get the creative bug again. I've only got to motivate myself to get into action. At the moment I've been working on some collaborative pieces with my co-worker, Omar. You will see the progress here eventually, but keep in mind he has done a lot of the technical work as I watch and learn what I can from the experience, me doing minor parts of the construction of the piece.
You will also be seeing my own work and personal progress as I improve on my skills as a jeweler and a jewelry artist. The first images I'll be uploading will be of my past work, my portfolio if you please, and then I'll go on from there. Hope you enjoy.

This is the very first project I did at GSU, under the institution of Professor Christina Lemon.
